“To begin healing what is broken in ourselves and in our relationship to the natural world, we need to see and feel what is within us and around us” (Amorok, 2007, p.29).
I have recently been watching a number of my clients transform their lives. What strikes me about their process is how much it is initiated by the body and followed by the mind. It is only when they come into relationship with their body, realize there is something uncomfortable present that “wasn’t there before,” that they then come into relationship with that discomfort.
This leads to wonder about it on a cognitive level, and this wondering in turn reveals a psycho-emotional relationship in their body mind dynamic that needs to be addressed in their lives. With that information they change their actions in their daily routine, and the body becomes the monitor for change. As they change the way they navigate their lives their body shows immediate improvements.
The body will reveal the path to walk toward health if we learn first to feel it and then to listen to it.
